Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2

Grade: A+

To call Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 highly anticipated, is an understatement. Marvel fans have been frothing at the mouth for this sequel since the credits of the first film.

Boy oh boy was it worth the wait!

James Gunn has done it again. Bringing the charm, comedy, and action we all adored from the first film, successfully to this second endeavor.

We find out misfit family of heroes saving some aliens in need, but getting in all kinds of trouble doing so. Thus our adventure begins! I won’t say more to avoid spoilers. Enjoy the worlds most vague film description.

The cast is just as great as they ever were. They really embrace their roles and bring their characters to life. Pratt as the arrogant and yet lovable Star Lord. Bautista as the often literal yet comical Drax. Michael Rooker gets much more screen time as Yondu. But let’s be for real.. Baby Groot steals the show.

Visuals once again are stunning, I truly am enamored with space sets.  Sci-fi visuals just leave so much room for imagination and creativity and it typically is gorgeous. This film is no exception, especially on a place like Ego.

The directing, editing, and sound mixing are all top notch. Nothing felt too bloated, it didn’t seem there was too much excess, even with a 2 hour 19 minute run time. My only beef is that I didn’t love the soundtrack/awesome mix volume 2 as much. But in the big scheme of things. That’s not a huge deal breaker.

What a fantastic, fun, incredible follow up to the first film. An absolute must see and lastly I am Groot!
