Avengers on Bluray

Published on September 25th, 2012

One of the highest grossing films of all times hits Bluray for the first time this week. It’s available in 3D, Bluray, and DVD formats for your home enjoyment. We checked out most of the special features so we can give you a run down of exactly what you’re getting.

If you want to check out our review of the film go here, but needless to say I loved the movie. Now for our run down of the Bluray special features and what I thought of them.

2 Making of Featurettes

A Visual Journey – A short run down of the visuals they wanted to focus on. Included is the creation of the helicarrier, totaling about 6 minutes 30 seconds.

Assembling the Ultimate Team – This featurette is an actor love fest. The actors talk about working with each other  in the film. It includes some cool behind the scenes footage. It’s only a short 8 minutes, I would have liked to see more.

I expected there to be a few more featurettes, maybe with stunt training and more actual filming. But the two that are included are pretty cool.

Blooper Reel – It’s about 4 minutes long. It’s kind of short if you think about it. After all the movie was 2 and a half hours. Darn you Marvel for holding out on us!

Item 47 – Marvel One Shot – This is longer than the teaser that made its way around the internet around July. It’s a total of about 11 minutes. That includes the credits. So give or take. It’s pretty enjoyable. I’m curious to see if it leads to the SHIELD tv show. I wouldn’t be surprised at all. Especially when you see the fate of Bradford and Caplan’s characters.

Deleted Scenes

Alternate Opening –  2 minutes 30 seconds. It includes some neat imagery but cut for good reason.

Extended Scene Loki & Hawkeye work out strategies – 1 minute 40 seconds.

Captain America  A Soldier Out of Time – 3 minutes.  This I wish had stayed in the film. Not sure how it would have flowed, but I liked several of the aspects, including the Stan Lee cameo.

Council Talks to Fury – 50 seconds

Extended Scene New York Fight – 1 minute 30 seconds. Mostly Widow and Hawkeye fighting.

Extended Scene Fury confronts Hill – 40 seconds.  Pointless without alternate opening.

Extended Scene Banner chats with Security guard – 2 minutes

Alternate Ending – 3 minutes Cut because it went with the Alt opening. Regular ending is better anyhow.

Soundgarden Music Video

Can I just say who cares??

Shield Logo = Personnel Files

Just stat pages on the Heroes.

Second Screen Experience

Worst idea on the face of the planet. I’d rather have a picture in picture option for my one screen. I tried to download the program to my phone. It wouldn’t download, it froze. Then I tried to just use my computer to participate, it wouldn’t auto sync up. Then I tried to do the “Manual Sync,” except it wasn’t an option on my computer. Just my T.V. What a failure of massive proportions.
