Friday the 13th, Rascal Flatts lit up the Gexa Energy Pavillion with a jam packed set. The country music trio is out on tour to promote their latest release entitled “Changed.” You wouldn’t have really thought so from the set list however.
The bands career has spanned over a decade, with eight studio albums to their name. So it’s understandable that they would perform mostly hits at this point. If they don’t play a certain hit song, inevitably the casual audience member who wanted to hear it will be mad. The boys put on a fun show, but I have to say I feel its kind of a cop out appeasing the masses so well. The real solution here would be to perform a set list that’s longer than a whole whopping 17 songs.
But really who am I kidding, the masses probably just want to hear the hits. So that’s what the band successfully delivers and they do so with a fun finesse. The three guys play up the audience really well, one moment I found really sweet was when Joe Don leaned down to let a youngster strum his guitar. Those are the kind of things that parents and children will remember for a life time. That’s where the band shines the most. That’s what makes their ticket worth your hard earned dollar.
