Fright Night (Review)

Grade: A-

The anticipated remake of Fright Night hit theaters this weekend apparently in an under whelmingly fashion. Coming in last place in the box office round up and making me give an ode to family guy WHA??? Sheesh America why you no see?

Seriously, it was the best bet you could have gone with out of the group of films that just came out. No offense to the super action flicks or romantic love dramas. I also get that it isn’t quite time for Halloween, but the again its a neighborhood Vamp flick. Not exactly a scary movie.

So you live in suburbia of Vegas and a Vampire named Jerry moves in next door.. People start disappearing.. What would you do?  For the record this is not your Twilight friendly neighborhood Vamp flick. They can’t go into the sun, they do drink the blood of humans, and there’s nothing really sparkly about them. However Colin Farrell was looking pretty hot with his pointy teeth.

Anton Yelchin yet again proves why he’s one of the hottest young actors on the scene. Pretty much carrying the film on his shoulders, getting help from Farrell and David Tennant every now and then. Although he doesn’t really need it. As for the film itself? It’s a pretty solid flick. Never boring, enough action and comedy to keep even the most ADD person entertained. Oh and did we mention Colin Farrell as one hot vampire? Yeah..

My only complaint about the entire film has got to be the 3D? They are trying so hard to adopt the gimmick; throwing items at the screen, blood spurts popping out at the audience, the glowing ember remains of vamps that die floating out about the audience like fire flies.  It’s just getting ridiculous. How about worrying about how the film looks without the gimmick instead of with it.

Even with the dang 3D it’s the best movie that came out over the weekend. You should have seen it, if you didn’t see it, go see it. There’s no reason films like The Smurfs or Spy Kids 4 should be above it? Audiences caring about quality films fail.. yeah.. definite fail.
