Transformers 3 (Review)

Grade: B+

Transformers 3 blasts into theaters this week, quite literally this week. It’s out in theaters right now thanks to special 3D only showings until friday. I don’t usually condone seeing movies in 3D, however, I will make an exception for this one. There’s so much CGI and Bay took the time to shoot with a 3D Camera, creating an immersive world. Eat it up Paramount, this may be the only time I ever compliment 3D in a normal non animated film!

Now onto the flick itself. We pick up where we left off mostly. Sam is trying to find a job after college, living with his new girlfriend in D.C., while the Autobots participate in military ops. Secrets about the moon landing start to unravel giving the Decepticons their chance to manipulate events to aid in their take over.

Compared to the last film, this is a much more solid story. As always the Transformers films are filled with action, comedy, and Shia LaBeouf screaming Optimus. All your favorite characters have returned.. as well as a couple of great additions to the cast including Alan Tudyk and Patrick Dempsey. Leonard Nimoy does an amazing job voicing Sentinel Prime for those of you who were curious about that.

This was a nice end to the series of films. With that said, I hope they do not try to make another film. I don’t know how many more almost 3 hour movies with cars transforming into robots I can sit through. My only real complain this go round is one I’ve always had with Michael Bay films, more than half an hour too long. If he would cut his gratuitous pointless action shots out, that would probably fix it.  All in all it was pretty descent, and almost makes up for the torture that was Transformers 2.
