Aerosmith at Superpages.com Center

Published on July 20th, 2009

Rock & Roll Veterans Aerosmith stopped by the Superpages.com Center Sunday night bringing their signature sound and one heck of a set list with them. Successfully rocking the faces off everyone from the start with a track off the Get A Grip album titled “Eat the Rich.” Drums pounding away while Steven Tyler and Joe Perry strutted down the catwalk into the audience. The seasoned rockers showed the audience how its supposed to be done, keeping hits like “Cryin” and “Walk This Way” coming like a freight train. With such an extensive catalog, the band could have easily played on for hours. Unintentionally proving they still have the stamina for it when Billy Gibbons joined them onstage for a 10 minute jam session during Rattlesnake Shake, an obvious highlight of the evening.

The only unfortunate matter of the evening was the band being down a man, with David Hull filling in for Tom Hamilton (who is recovering from surgery.) Also Steven Tyler was injured recently and it seemed mildly evident, as he didn’t use the length of the stage as much as he normally would have. I do have to commend him for continuing the tour and giving it his all even when injured. In the end the fans in the audience didn’t seem to notice any real difference, and I’m sure were thrilled that the show wasn’t postponed. I look forward to seeing the band in full and even finer form the next time they drop in to Dallas. The Music is timeless and their shows shouldn’t be missed!

Texas band ZZ Top opened the show up with a bluesy set, including hits like Sharp Dressed Man. Guitarist Billy Gibbons pointing at people and playing it up for the audience, giving a satisfying hour long set. Proving to be a fantastic choice to accompany Aerosmith on tour.
