The Veronicas at The House of Blues

Wednesday evening The Veronicas stopped by the House of Blues on their “Revenge is Sweeter” Tour, embarking on their first headlining tour in support of their latest album “Hook Me Up.”

Eager teens and tweens.. and a few parents packed into the room eager and anxious to hear their favorite tracks by the duo.  Sisters Lisa and Jess hit the stage early, a pleasant surprise as most artist are usually late. Hitting the night off with the latest single “Take Me on the Floor” building some energy from the crowd, girls along the barricade singing along word for word.

The Veronicas had the crowd in the palm of their hand as they strutted across the stage, if they wanted clapping they got it, the girls said jump and the fans jumped, they ate it up when Lisa called everyone cute cowboys. At one point Lisa asked how many people were at their first Veronica’s show and almost every hand was raised, which I found surprising since the girls have been to Dallas several times in the past couple of years.

A major highlight of the evening was before the song “Revenge is Sweeter,” Lisa let the audience know it was about a certain ex-boyfriend from Dallas. (Ryan Cabrera for those who dont know) I think everyone got a good chuckle out of that. Only once in the evening did the set slow down, yet it was in a good fashion, and it was when the girls did a few slower acoustic numbers without the backing of their enthusiastic high energy band.

The girls picked things back up for a few songs and ended their set with Untouched, obviously the most anticipated, as the whole audience was singing along to every word.  The duo returned to the stage after that for an encore. Not to sure why they didn’t do Untouched as the encore. Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be done? Leave the most anticipated for the end.

Either way the girls put on a high energy fun set, with a great mix of old and new material. It was a tad bit shorter than I was expecting, but a good show.
